Reaction Time Test
Click as soon as the screen turns green.
Overview
The Reaction Time Test measures how quickly you respond to a visual stimulus, a fundamental metric in cognitive science. Click as soon as the screen turns green, and your response time is measured in milliseconds. The median of 5 trials is used as your final score to eliminate outliers.
Rules
- Wait while the screen is red, then click as fast as possible when it turns green
- Clicking before the screen turns green counts as 'too early' and the trial restarts
- You complete 5 trials, and the median value becomes your final score
- You can also use the Space key to respond

FAQ
Does the device I use affect my score?
Yes. Monitor response time and touchscreen input latency can cause 10-30ms differences between devices. For fair comparison, always test on the same device.
How many tests do I need for an accurate result?
A single session (5 trials) provides reliable results, but testing over 3+ days and using your best score accounts for daily variation.
Can reaction time be improved with training?
Yes. Regular practice improves decision-phase processing speed, with 10-20ms improvements reported after 2-4 weeks. Sleep quality and caffeine intake also have measurable effects.
